Volunteer Program Update, May 31, 2017:
Please note that due to preparations for, moving to, a few construction and utility delays, and settling into our new shelter, we are currently not accepting new volunteers at this time. Please check back in July 2017 for updates, including when we will once again be able to welcome new volunteers to our team at our home on Taft Hill Road. Thank you for your interest, we look forward to your help soon!
The volunteer program at Animal House offers something for everyone! From families to individuals, we can accommodate your schedule and interests.Download a volunteer packet and start saving lives!
Give one on one time to a shelter dog while providing exercise for both of you! Our dogs rely on our volunteers for one on one enrichment time. The time commitment is flexible, our dogs can be walked 7 days a week between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. All volunteers must complete an application and go through volunteer training. Children 10+ years with their parent or guardian are welcome to volunteer at Animal House. You must be 18 years or older to volunteer without a parent or guardian. For more information on getting started, download a volunteer packet.
Be an ambassador! A fun way to help our animals get more exposure and to spread awareness about Animal House! Assist with local weekend events for dog adoptions and information tables. Train to become an Event Lead as well! The time commitment is flexible but up to 4 hours on a Saturday or Sunday. Occasionally events do take place on weeknights. All volunteers must complete an application and go through both volunteer training and volunteer dog walking training. After completing multiple dog walking shifts (totaling 6 hours or more), volunteers may then sign up to attend the event volunteer training class. You must be 18 years or older to volunteer for weekend adoption events, fundraising events and information tables.
It takes a team to plan our successful fundraising events like Choice City Comedy Night, Run Fur Fun 5K and Fall Harvest Brewfest. We are looking for individuals to join our event committees. Committee members assist with event sponsorships, event promotion, securing auction items, and more. The time commitment is typically a monthly meeting for 4-6 months for 60-90 minutes. Email communication and reliable transportation to meetings, the event and running errands, as needed, required. Fundraising Committee volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older to join a planning committee.
