What is Animal House?
A distinctive and special resource within our community, Animal House aims to decrease the euthanasia rate of adoptable dogs by giving these well-deserving animals the opportunity, and most importantly the time, to find the right home. Through community outreach and collaboration with overpopulated and underserved shelters, we’re making a difference in the lives of dogs and the humans who love them.
Where are you moving to?
Our new location is located less than a mile and a half from our current Vine Drive location at 2200 North Taft Hill Road in Fort Collins.
When are you moving?
Our goal is to be fully operational at the new property by the spring of 2017.
What are you plans for the existing buildings on the property?
We are currently in the process of designing a remodel for the three existing buildings on the property. Plans will be unveiled as available. The remodel will occur in two phases during 2017 and 2018.
Why are you moving?
Animal House would like to move toward a more sustainable future with improved operations and the ability to serve our community more effectively. With that goal in mind, we’ve been working diligently over the past few years to secure funding in hopes of finding a new home.
This new location will provide the opportunity to update our facility and expand our operations but it will also be a property that we own (versus rent as we currently do).
Can Animal House afford the property? How will it be funded?
Thanks to the support we’ve received over the years Animal House has diligently saved money in order to secure the purchase of this property.
Animal House will be relying on funds raised through our Follow Us Home Campaign to pay for the costs associated with remodeling and relocating.
How can people help?
There are a variety of ways people can help with our campaign such as:
- Donating funds or supplies to the project
- Increasing awareness through social media
- Helping with tabling events
- Fundraising Committee
- Volunteer work days
What is the planned timeframe?
We would like to relocate by the spring of 2017.
At this time, we estimate that construction for the two main buildings that will house animals, and temporarily grooming, will take approximately three-four months, this will be PHASE 1. The administration and permanent grooming salon will be PHASE 2 which we hope to complete by the end of 2018. Grooming will be housed temporarily in the Adoption Center prior to PHASE 2.
How many more animals will Animal House help?
At our new facility, we expect to see a 20-25 percent increase in adoptions within the first two years. While we will have three more adoption runs, which will result in approximately 10 more dogs on the adoption floor, the biggest driver for this increase will be more space. With more space in our facility, we can improve operational efficiency and serve more animals throughout the year.
