Become a Foster, Save a Life

“Fostering is not a lifetime commitment…

It is a commitment to saving a life”

Becoming a foster home is a rewarding experience that makes all the difference for the dogs in our care. Shelter life does not suit every dog and that is where our incredible fosters come into play.

Becoming a foster is an easy process and we are here to help and support you along the way.

Steps to becoming a foster home:

1. Fill out the online foster volunteer application here
2. Attend one of our orientations by signing up here
Foster orientations are scheduled twice per month and last about an hour and a half. The foster orientation serves as an introduction to Animal House, our mission, and the expectations and rewards of becoming a foster family.
3. Pay foster fee
This can be done at orientation or at our shelter. These non-refundable fees are $20 for college students and $30 for families. Your foster fee helps cover the cost of your t-shirt, background check, and helps us direct more of our resources to the foster care program.
*If an interested party cannot afford the fee, they may speak with Jess, the Foster Care Coordinator.
**If you are already an Animal House volunteer, you do not need to pay the fee.
4. Once your background check has cleared, we will have a volunteer reach out to schedule your home visit!
5. Once your home visit is completed, you can begin fostering!
If you have more questions, please reach out to Jess, our Foster & Transfer Coordinator by email or call our shelter at 970-224-DOGS (3647)
